Bullocks in cubicles?

Hi,

Anyone got experience of running steers in cubicles? I am erecting a new shed and ideally want to avoid the ongoing costs of straw. I'm interested in experience of bullocks on cubicles vs bedded sheds.

Thanks

Been doing it for years with straw bedding, never had to clip any fat cattle either! straw is virtually unobtainable up here at the moment though, Cows with calves will be going off bedding into cubicles this week to spin straw out a bit. Best thing we ever put in i reckon.

Have been keeping them on cubicles for a couple of years now with no problems. Had them on woodchip before that and find them much cleaner now. Cubicles can be a bit wet sometimes but we bed with a light dust of sawdust every day.

That's really helpful, thanks. Think I'm settling on cubicles with mats and hopefully save a fortune on straw!
