Bunning greedy boards

I always thought 'greedy boards' on spreaders were for rash operators always hitting the tops whilst loading, so rather than dent and bend the metal you just eventually replace it by bolting a new one into place.

Could be wrong, could be to help put too much on and then swear when the bed chains break...

you must know some rather rough operators if they can knacker the top of a bunning spreader

We were going to get some when we had the spreader made, but they seemed abit small, so we're going to get 2 wooden planks on eitherside eventually, more for holding more slop than bog standard fym really as you can only really pile it soo high before you have issues with the door

Hmm ,, not sure what you would have to do to break a bunning bed chain, unless it was worn out,
Or somebody was tooo enthusiastic welding the lugs on

That's what I want to do but just wanted to see how the bracket sits on the side

Hows it bolted on through the middle? there's a hole every 2 ft along the top for something to go in to to secure a greedy board on mine

Just one bolt at either end and an upside down v sits on top of the side, fits really well, no rattle or movement whatsoever, very strong and well able to withstand the odd knock from the loader.

do you use it with alot of pure sloppy muck? was just wondering how you'd go about putting a board along the grill at the front so it doesn't leak out

This is how we put a front board on our old spreader and have done the same on the new one. The side boards are 10x4" cut locally, cost a fraction of the manufacturers steel ones and would take more abuse.
