Bus Stop!

Drove down to the farm entrance today and there was a bus timetable and sign put on my farm entrance signs! What should I do? There's never been a bus stop here before, surely they have to get permission from the council to create one? Can't see now when I turn out, don't want people sending at the end of the road chucking yet more rubbish into the field....

I'd Contact Travel Dorset/ Dorset Council

They'd of ok'd it and had it installed.

Southwest Coaches will be the one running the route maybe hoping concessions will make the low tender pay.

I'd be pointing out the dangers of having it in a farm entrance.

Irrespective of whether they have Council permission. it is your farm sign post. A call/email giving them 24 hours to remove it!
These organisations are getting more and more gung ho with other people's property. Last month, found that my local council had been into my (fenced))field and cut down 5 trees, removed the timber and chipped the brash!! The guy responsible wrote me the most arrogant email when I politely questioned what happened. As a result, he is in danger of losing his job and I have got 400 metres of stock fence replaced. These people have got to realise that farmed land is not within their remit. The council are under no illusion that next time I have an issue with them, I will take them to court.

Well done!

Bugs me when others think they can do what they like on others’ property.

Fantastic. I like how you deal with officialdom. Both barrels.

This is probably Highways and they are........um....

Probably best to skip the parish council and go to district or county and don't hold back. Give them both barrels.

A bus stop would have surely needed PP and a notice? Although Highways are a law unto themselves and usually a bunch of twits.

You could be right about Highways. Another lot who think they can do what they want on other people's land! They rang and asked for the key to my gate. "Why?" I asked. "Oh, we are going to put some new footpath signs up" he said. I suggested it might be a good idea for them to let me have a plan of what they want to do. 14 metal, motorway type signs on a mile of footpath/bridleway along with a horse mounting block on either side of the bridge which would have restricted access to little more than 8'. I told him that I would be surprised if his signs and mounting blocks would last an hour!!! It was probably just as well this was over the phone or he would have had a sign post to his nether regions!!!
Can you tell I am on a mission???

Not an especially clever place for a bus stop in any case seeing as it is a relatively tight curve and anyone attempting to manoeuvre passed the bus would do so blind
