Beta Bugs is an Edinburgh-based insect genetics company that is laying the foundation of a new, sustainable and rapidly growing bioindustry. Our vision is to be the company creating high-performance insect genetics that will feed, fuel and supply our world's growing livestock and human population. Our current focus is on developing and distributing breeds of the Black Soldier Fly, which is used as an animal feed, and our mission is to double our industry's productivity, so that it can truly compete on price against soya and fishmeal.

Description

We’re seeking a dynamic, experienced and client-orientated business development professional to spearhead its UK and European sales growth. The principal responsibility of the Business Development Manager will be to identify new sales leads and close existing opportunities in UK and Europe and to subsequently grow profitable sales revenues in line with company sales targets.

This BDM role represents an integral part of the wider Commercial team, focusing on the implementation, development and enhancement of our pipelines of prospects, composed of new market entrants, existing Black Soldier Fly protein producers and agri-food partners.

The role will involve extensive travel throughout Europe on pre-planned targeted prospecting and client visits.

The BDM will be charged with identifying new business opportunities, developing and negotiating sales agreements and developing and maintaining client relationships. Effectively build a short/medium/long term sales pipeline. With a successful track record of selling services in the agri-food industry and exceeding sales targets, this role will handsomely reward a skilled BDM with strong service-orientation. Given Beta Bugs’ attention to market development, the successful BDM will be highly efficient and time-focused.

Qualifications

Educated to degree level, ideally in life sciences or equivalent, and with at least five years direct experience of selling in an agricultural or agri-food environment. Direct experience of selling plant or animal genetics would be highly advantageous but is not essential.

  • focused on opportunities in specific geographic areas requiring significant travel throughout Europe
