Butchery service

Thompson’s did offer to cut them up for me a while back. Have you heard different? Lately?
Thompson are always to busy or short staffed to butcher anything, not a problem slaughtering can book in almost next day, but they do not want to hang for long. Was told 'we are a retail butchers Joe is a block and knife butcher.' Pigs been going there for while and then we're taken to Joe's for butcher and package. But having to collect pigs and bring home then have some one come to house and butcher sausage. Lambs cost £45 after been slaughtered at Thompson then delivered to local butcher for him to cut which takes any money out of it.
Wether Joe reopens or not who knows, but personally can not see why he will or would. Hope am wrong as its a pleasure to take stock there and then collect, always just as should be.

I’m freinds with one of the lads that works there. He was offering the whole package but that was a few months ago so maybe it’s changed since

So much for all those Brits who say NZ has no regulations and you all just do what you want...

That wasn’t my understanding of the law

Not necessarily in the yes of the law.

I’d be checking exactly what is allowed before you make it into a business.
My understanding is this
I can kill an animal myself but it must be chilled either on my farm or at a registered abattoir.
the carcass can be butchered either at registered abattoir or on my own premises.
If butchered on my premises then anyone can butcher it but cannot be paid and only for home consumption.
If the animal is killed and butchered by registered abattoir then Meat can be sold.

think this is correct?

Spoke to lad from Thompsons earlier, and thinks they could be doing it now. Think you have to speak to right person in office. But they bit short staffed at present with people having to self isolate.

Not entirely.

If it’s killed outside of an abattoir, it can only be eaten by your immediate household, regardless of where it is butchered and by whom. Fairly certain you can pay the butcher wherever he or she does the work, but not 100% on that.

If you kill it, you must use a pre stun method - either bolt or electric stun. That seems to apply regardless of where it is killed.

not quite
killed at home is for home consumption only
killed in registered slaughter house and cut in butchers can be sold
