Buy - 200 hp tractor

I'm starting to get prices together early for my next tractor.

Required Feb / March 2016.

200hp rated (give or take 10hp) not boosted etc - flat rated.
4 spools
Auto steer ready
580/70r38 rears
Cab suspension
3t (ish) front linkage.

Quotes for outright purchase and 2/3 year contract hire please.

No preference on brand at all.

Why such small tyres?
I would've thought every 200hp tractor offering would take a 580/70r42, much better tyre for that size of tractor but since you aren't ploughing then why not 650s?
I've got the 580's on the current one - so have duals to match.

Also means I don't have to swap to rowcrops when putting fert on etc?

Would everybody recommend I went wider then?

Won't the prices you get now be out of date by March 2016?
Some manufacturers only build to order. A local dealership. is struggling to get a new tractor delivered on farm, within six months of order.
That was my thinking - factory lead times are getting longer.

Current tractor is on contract hire, so at end of term goes back, no matter what.
So need a replacement ordered in plenty of time, and be sure delivery will be as other leaves.
It's not as if I'm trading one in, so can just keep it until new one comes etc.

What jobs do you dual up for though? Whether you go JD/Agco/CNH all of their 200hp tractors will take a 42in tyre so you will gain in length of tyre on ground even if you don't go wider, a 38in tyre will make it sit quite low, on my 6150r I have the 38in tyre but the drawbar sits low (pain when straddling straw swath/trailer shoe ground clearance) and there looks to be enough clearance for a 42in, if I had known I would have taken that option

Not that often I suppose - used to drill with duals - but now can't with the Mzuri as I'd be too wide.
So that just leaves rolling I guess.

710's for def
This tractor is 40hp less than my other one.
It pulls it better with front hopper on than other one does without on 650/42's

There was a lad quite local to us who got a 200 hp fergie and he spoke to a tyre specialist before he specced the tyres and he got told to stay away from
42 inch tyres as they don't give the same grip. He was recommended 650/75/38 as the specialists opinion was they were the best gripping tyre for sowing and cultivating and most other jobs a tractor of that size does. And having seeing it at work with a 4m kv cultivator working a 18 inch deep the tyres coped no bother with it and he had no weights on the front either.
