Look on the bright side, all the old wagon drivers haven't bothered, and it's pushed the cost of taking your Hgv at 21 up to £3,500, and that's if you pass your tests first time, fail a couple and you're talking £5000. So, for all of us that have a class 1 and CPC, we can earn much more, as there's a shortage of drivers, to the point (and this ain't no sh!t either) you can tell a firm to feck off in the morning and walk in to another Hgv job by dinner time for a good rate of pay. It's done me a favour, I never thought that my Hgv was worth anything till I started using it.
yes ,You are on the other side of the fence . sounds like you are a driver and I am an employer . I see your point . But the point should be , why should have to do it , just another tax

If you can afford it, then yes. Otherwise, do your CPC, you get a farming connect grant to cover the cost, it's a no brainer. 8 years ago I got a 50% grant to do my class 2 and 1 Hgv, last year I got a 100% grant to do my CPC, no other "ticket" has made me as much money as these have.
I not blaming you . But thats a f**king disgrace giving grants like that FFS

How much does the average lorry driver get paid? You make it sound like its better than buying a lottery ticket!

Same grants they hand out to build new farm buildings, slurry stores, concreting, buy pan mixers, farm machinery, so makes dealers a fortune, so yes, total fecking disgrace. Fecking ironic how people who rely on an industry which relies on government subsidy to criticise its own grant system.

I ended up driving by accident, and yes it is a waste of time, but it's not as if nobody's had enough notice, this was brought up in our local lantra meeting in 2009.

you think its wrong government paying for brynseri to do his hgv and compulsory training. He s just getting vocational training that assists a person in getting a job. Hence my comparison with the government paying university tuition fees. Its ridiculous the amount of money that the government gives people to go through university. Would be better spent on vocational training and apprenticeships in my opinion. These individuals will go onto contribute much more to economy.

Its not personal you know . But yes I think its wrong , but I also think its wrong for them to pay for every tom dick and thick to got to uny . They should only pay for the academically able ( thats me out ). Should be an exam . And the others who go to save going to work !!.
