Buying a MF 6475

Ah ok. So you think it would be a good enough buy. I’ve a picture attached. It looks very clean and the garage says it’s prefect in every way. I’m just disappointed about the no cab suspension.when this tractor was bought new could it of been just bog standard with no extras

Yes. Check the hydraulics. It may be open centre with just the one 60lpm fixed displacement gear pump. That's fine if your hydraulic requirement is limited but may not be adequate for loader work or tipping 12ton+ trailers quickly. It will do the job, but it might seem frustratingly slowly if you are on an intensive schedule. Particularly loader work with a loader suitable for a tractor that size.

On the bright side, open centre is very simple and the pump is cheap to replace relatively speaking, should it wear out. If it does wear out and hydraulic flow decreases markedly, do not delay swapping the pump for a new one.
How would I know by looking at the tractor if it only has 60lpm

Few more pictures. The back end is a bit rusty. The dear says it was a hedge cutting tractor

The spool valves and couplers on the rear are different. The open centre ones will be very similar to ones on early 3000 series or all 5400 series tractors. You will have one three position lever with spring to neutral, one convertible with detents and one four position with float and detents. In all probability that would be the open centre mix, but other mixes of slices were available to order.

Closed centre system will have larger rear couplers and all levers will be four position with float and each slice will have a flow control nob on the slice itself.

Picture is a bit small, even when expanded, but I am fairly confident that it has closed centre hydraulics with the superior spool slices and 100 litres per minute.
thats great thanks. So the autodrive or speed matching won’t really matter. All the tractor will be used for is drawing round bales of silage and a three weeks at slurry with a 2000G tanker

Auto drive is more of a pain in the arse to most drivers than of significant benefit.
Remember what I said about setting the start-off gear feature to a two handed affair and to switch it off, otherwise at critical moments you may find yourself starting off in the lowest gear, creeping out of a junction desperately shifting up as the articulated truck bears down on you with horns blaring like a ship in fog about to collide with an iceberg.

Doing as I say will transform every driver’s experience for the better.

So could this be a problem do you think. The tractor looks in great condition with excellent tyres. Not sure what to do. Also no cab suspension but I never had this in my 6270 so don’t think I would mind

If it's the 6475 being sold by Walling UK the front tyres are only at 20%.

They've also got a 6480 with full front and cab suspension, front links, front pto and less hours.

It is a big job to suspend a cab that isn't originally suspended I'm afraid. The front cab mount are quite different, not just the rubbers but the steel that they sit on, and possibly the height of the cab floor above the transmission. The clearance between the cab and the bonnet used to be greater as well, to allow for cab movement.

Changing the air suspension already factory fitted to coil springs is relatively easy and cheap.

It doesn't have any suspension. It only has the standard rubber isolation mountings. On that tractor, it does seem that the spacer blocks below the mount hardware both sides only has the primer, which suggests that they have been changed for some reason. Its worth you having a better look around that area and asking a few questions as to what has been going on. It might be something or nothing, but it pays to find out for sure

The 6475 that you are looking at has no neither cab or front axle suspension. A retro fit would be expensive on this tractor and even then it would only have cab suspension.

Also the inside face of the rear wheel rims are look to have quite alot of surface rust. I dont know what would cause it, its almost like its badly stone chipped, but it most likely caused by whatever work it did in its previous life.

If it was me I would go to the dealer and drive both the 6475 and 6480 that way you can decide whether you need or want cab suspension and the autodrive dial.

How much is the 6475 and how much more do they want for the 6480?

I agree with that, bearing in mind there both the older perkins engine
not as reliable as the hours creep up over the sisu.
Once you had front axle suspension mind you would never go back, cab also helps as does the super deluxe seat.
Meant to have a good rep that dealer. talk to them.
Front links a must on any tractor now.
whats prices of them both? no eco pto on the 80 i see.
