Hi I'm new to this forum. I was wondering if anyone could help, I'm buying a tractor from abroad with an Italian registration document. How easy is it to register it in England ?, and what forms do i need to fill in. Any help will be appreciated.
Speak to what was the dvla. I have a friend who took his tractor back from France when he moved back to the U.K. it was a bit of a pita with paper work but I think he got there in the end. An advance conversation might help to smooth the way.
I shipped a matbro and a caseih magnum from the uk to Canada shortly after the foot and mouth came to an end. Had to get a vets certificate as to the washing and disinfectant used. Thought it was going to be a pair of spotlessly clean units turning up but was a complete joke. Both machines i steam cleaned at a local truck wash and couldn’t believe crap that came off. Was more concerned about black grass than F and M. Make sure your tractor is spotless or it may cause holdups at either end.
Its a while since i did one but it was pretty easy , if you are vat registered its easier again .
you really need the original Italian reg doc not a copy of it , DVLA will want this to see the year of first reg in Italy to issue a correct reg year for it .
access the Nova database , that is primarily to record the vat status of the vehicle ie to see if VAT has been paid on its import in to the UK , if you are vat registered it was (pre brexit) treated a vat free import and just shown on you vat return , now i'm not so sure if you are not vat registered you will have to pay vat on the full cost including the import cost I believe that is recorded on nova so DVLA can see its been paid before they issue reg docs .
once that is done I got a document pack form DVLA to fill in and sent it along with an insurance cover note raised on the tractor chassis no , and the original countries reg docs to DVLA for them to issue a reg no and process the FOC tax.
As has been mentioned the cleaning was pre-brexit not an issue but could now be a much bigger deal so get the seller to wash it and do a good job doing it for you , I supect it may be more of concern going from uk to europe but knowing the clip board warriors not worth the risk
