Buying British/jcb

having always bought jcb as it’s supporting British manufacturing and always using jcb genuine parts as I thought that would be too, I noticed their oil filters are made in Israel!
Then needing a new alternator today I rang local jcb dealer up who said they had a jcb one in....dad went through and when he got there it was a Chinese one! And they wanted £130 for it, needless to say dad said stick it...went to local electrical service shop and they wanted £52 for the exact same Chinese one!
Shame jcb didn’t stick with British!

Some of the JCB excavators are Chinese. I can’t remember the make but some of them are just the same as a Chinese one rebadged in JCB. Also mr JCB is a big Brexiteer probably tells a story

My point was more where do you sell your grain! But a jcb S it helps British jobs but don’t moan where they source their parts

What's the problem here exactly? Some components simply aren't manufactured in the UK anymore. Take a look at a JD parts packet and you'll see plenty of them have the country of origin as Mexico, Brazil, India and China.

At least with the JCB you have contributed to several people's employment in the UK, who may remember to look for a Union Jack on the packets when they go to Tescos, just as you have when choosing a machine. I doubt the employees of JCB's competitors in Germany, France and the USA will return the favour.

Most of the major components are. Engine, transmission, axles, chassis and structure, cab, rams, main hydraulic valves. The contraction of vehicle manufacturing in this country is to blame for a lack of domestic components suppliers, not JCB purchasing policy. You'll see way more UK components on a '90s JCB as the manufacturers were still around then.

I have learnt never to buy genuine jcb parts as their prices are frankly ridiculous. Many places sell the parts half price one of which is ARMS Plant who have provided me with good service.
And I find quite the opposite. Wanted oil cooler and radiator for my JS , priced around and by the time I added carriage costs in there was hardly anything in it and there next day by 7.30. Water pump the same.Filters are very competitive on price with my local jcb supplier to. What I like more than anything else is if I order parts by 4.30 today they are there next morning. I can't fault the back up with my local dealer either.

I think there's some serious variation between JCB dealers. Reading some post on here some leave a lot to be desired. My local will discount and price match on some occasions, but the "next day" promise has on some occasions turned into "next week".

That’s news to me and I’ve been in the plant game for well over 30 years.i know they sold sumitomo based machines sold as JS models and they were Japanese and probably some of the best machines built
