Hello all,
As the title says buying cattle from private cattle dealers. Just wanting to know what prices are dairy cattle, e.g. fresh calved cows, dry cows.
Many thanks all.

make sure your private dealer is 'ok', if he is, should be allright, cows are rather expensive at the moment, so make sure you get the correct history ! The dealer has to make his margin, but make sure it's not extravagant !

Depends what type of cow you are looking for, why not visit a local weekly/monthly sale of dairy cattle to get a feel for the trade, which as said is rather hot at the moment.

We sell calved heifers to Paul Mason south of the border through our contact at United Auctions and we Find he is a perfect gentleman to do business with. My husband genuinely really likes him. He buys quite a lot of Scottish cattle locally now.
