Buying drum mower advice?

Any things to look out for when buying a drum mower looking at an old Fahr km22 that is local to me. trying to upgrade from the old finger bar ?

lift the saucers to check for play in bearings. And check the blade holders for wear.

About 25 acres for hay and then a bit of topping over another 20

There's loads of good drum mowers around for little money. Don't be wasting your time with one that needs work. And definitely don't waste time with a finger bar

Disc better at topping.

A 2 meter/6 feet 6 would be an option.

Just make sure that whichever drum mower it will be that it has an over run clutch on the PTO shaft for those tractors.

If the 885has slightly wide tyres or track set wide you may struggle to use a drum mower for the canopy hitting the wheel

Why not price up a new drum mower
with straight deal discount and go from there

We just use the finger bar for a bit of topping the idea with the drum is to start doing our own hay

A disc mower would be more suited to your tractor and on certain models you can lift the height of cut for topping
