Hate it when cultivating eg cover crop and young leveretts break cover, only to be snatched up by buzzards. Tried to save one today but bird kept flying away. It's screams will disturb my sleep tonight!

yeah i hate the b'stards......all you can do is cut middle of field first so they draw to hedges :scratchhead:

Think the barn owls have suffered also. Found one recently dead on a tree stump with definite raptor inflicted wounds.
Buzzard population out of control here , can't stand the things

9 buzzards and 53 kites following the cultivator in the spring. in a 13 acre bit, nothing stands a chance, but people love them, some actually feed em.
Think yourself lucky , well over 150 kites follow around here and probably 20 buzzards , unfortunately not an uncommon site in oxfordshire.

I think the buzzard population has declined here as the number of kites has increased.

we do get stone curlews but the little ones don’t stand a chance

Had one take a leveret two days ago, always makes me feel awful as love seeing them about. They are starting to get out of control here, Kites have arrived circa 3-4 years ago, don't mind them, they dont seem to kill like the Buzzards do.

Saw one catch a leveret yesterday, but it couldn't carry it away. Jumped out of the tractor to rescue it, but its back legs wouldn't work. It must have punctured the leverets spine with its talons.
