C. Tenuicollis carcase rejection

Just had someone who bought store lambs from us ring to say he has had a lot condemned due to c. Tenuicollis in one bunch. I wasn't aware whole carcasses were condemned for this and everything I seem to read on the internet just says the livers are condemned. Has anyone else experiences this? Is it possible abattoirs are changing their policy? We have sold relatively few lambs direct to slaughter from this holding but have not seen a problem in those. Is it possible they have picked it up on tack grazing since he has bought them? Would appreciate anyone's thoughts.
Thanks

Someone's got their wires crossed. Whole carcase condemnations would be due to C. Ovis, livers only would be C Tenuicolis. Unless he bought your lambs last week, perfectly possible that it was picked up away from home.

I was involved in condemning 19 sheep from one farm with generalised C Ovis last week. They were riddled. Worm your dogs, folks!!

That was a good read!

@Woolless any idea how long bruising on spring lambs last? I had 1 last year that a member of staff physically grabbed by the wool to change its direction in the pens 10 days before slaughter, nothing on the kill sheet?

I’ve seen hauliers, Marts men and layrage men not worrying about grabbing lambs etc but surely it shows on the carcass and then we get the deduction?

Can only speak for my plant and team but bruising has to be pretty bad before it would actually marked down as a deduction. Minor stuff either left or nicked off with a knife.

Ah ok, we do get the odd 1 on a kill sheet but we know for sure that we didn’t do it etc...

I have had bruising mentioned before but no rejected meat.
I think the walk in creep feeders may be responsible in bigger lambs that barge their way in.
C.Tennuicolis shows up fairly regularly in livers here, but never had carcass rejected with it. Plenty of wildlife about dropping tapeworms.
Depends where C.Ovis is, in carcass, on kidney etc, carcass may get retained for senior inspector to have final say. Had it mentioned once but not rejected.
