Thank goodness Gavin is on his bike out of education. But WTF Liz Truss as foreign secretary, talk about dumb and dumber. I've cows that could do the job better and they are Limmys! Should have put Gove or Hunt in the job.

Gove and Hunt are the most capable in the Cabinet. To be PM you need to have held the Foreign secretary/ Home secretary/ Chancellor position. Why the F!ck Would Boris give his major competitors those jobs on their CV?
Hunt was previously FS though I think.

It’s geneius, just keep moving your cabinet from position to position a d blame them for not getting the job done just needing more time then when it’s a cock up just reshuffle again :)

How many PM'S in the last 100 years have held any of those posts ? May and callaghan, just off the top of my head made a right cock up, good old Gordon B was a mixed bag at both his jobs, gave away all our gold but did keep us out of the euro

Boris did, May did, Cameron was in opposition so couldn’t have. Brown did, Blair was opposition but held shadow post. Major did. Thatcher didn’t, but was party leader and came from opposition. No idea which shadow posts she held.

That’s the last fifty odd years.

Yes forgot boris did, but compare the records of those who did and didnt and they arent as good, not sure many would say boris, may, major and brown were as good as Thatcher, blair or even Cameron

No real surprise that a leader good enough to take power from the opposition would be better than one from the same party though, is it? All those you mention were first of an era.
