That's what i thought, although i think they should add a way of making it stay on a given plane as well

Try pressing one of the arrow keys before clicking where you want the annotation. They usually fix the plane on which your working on. It does for the line tool etc. Been awhile since I've used any annotations though.

Does it not move as you change your view? So it's always facing the camera

Sorry, I was meaning that you can make the "dimension" rise up out of the ground, as a marker in mid air, or walk along the ground as if someone spray painted a line on the floor.

Lad`s what`s out there to replace sketchup . Had sketchup on the old laptop but when i try to download it to the new computer all i seem to be able to download is trial version of the pro which i did . The trial has now expired . And all i have access to is a 3d modeling version which is no use to me . Alway`s used draw what i needed in 2d and cant do that with the modeling version . Any help / thoughts welcome .

You can probably find an old version of sketchup make somewhere online. Just be a bit savvy about where you're downloading from

Well i`v got a 2015 version downloaded now of sketchup make . Again a 30 day trial applies . Will let me do what i need for now

This is all i need it for today . Making up plates for a 3 point linkage pins so draw them up on sketchup print off to scale and use the print out as a template for marking the holes i need to drill . Basic i know but accurate none the less .

I like that idea. Didn’t realise you could print to actual scale using Sketchup.
