I out of curiosity I had another try with free. It was not a clunky as I remembered, but still not as slick or nice to use as the commercial offerings. For example it lacks a smart dimension tool when producing sketches, so rather than just selecting one tool and then quickly adding a load of different dimensions to a rough sketch, you have to pick the right type of dimension every time (Vertical, horizontal, Line to vertex, Radius, Diameter, Angle).

I don’t like doing cad, all that clicking of the mouse hurts my hands, and I can use a mouse either right or left handed

any ideas
I use a 3D connexion Space mouse with Solid Edge 3D CAD. Recently gone to Logitech ergonomic mouse which is an improvement - see image. I used to use an Optical Trackman (which was a ball) it was the best mouse but they stopped making it and I've now worn out all my spare reserves that I stock piled.
