None I’m here to make money. When it’s banned I will move on but until then why should I? Your carbon foot print will be far higher than mines for sure. What’s your counter argument?
What's your carbon figures out of interest?None I’m here to make money. When it’s banned I will move on but until then why should I? Your carbon foot print will be far higher than mines for sure.
Agree with you there although I doubt my carbon foot print will be far higher.None I’m here to make money. When it’s banned I will move on but until then why should I? Your carbon foot print will be far higher than mines for sure.
Well maybe not, but we produce about 3x as much Electricty as we consumeAgree with you there although I doubt my carbon foot print will be far higher.
The trouble is I expect that the greens would argue that if you didn't have the cows you'd produce even more (unless you have a slurry digester)Well maybe not, but we produce about 3x as much Electricty as we consume
That’s some going, will be looking at some form of renewable’s for here next year. Thinking PV the now. Is all yours off the wind turbine’s?Well maybe not, but we produce about 3x as much Electricty as we consume

Indeed, we produce a nameless faceless globally traded commodity. Use the tools and resources legally allowed unless someone wants to pay you not too.None I’m here to make money. I find the same. I’ve no interest in supplying a feed mill with an income. We use multiple brokers. Not many buying straight products in the UK? Everyone write about different blends.
I find it way too expensive to help the feedcompanies run their mills. And i don't want all their cheap filler-products added.
I buy non-gmo soya (demand from Arla here), rape meal, rape cake, maize gluten, c16 fat and minerals, and roll my own grain.
I make 2 loads in the TMR mixer a week and have my own blend. I feed for high output compared to most on here.
I have contract on soya and both rape products to mid-23.
I also buy sugar beet pulp and feed grass and maize silage.
The current price for most of these products are frightening. But then again, the current milkprice is also rare.
Would love to but several factors stop me, I don't have a mixer wagon so can't roll my own, I don't have enough cows to warrant decent size loads of different products - if I'm wanting say 18t total with 6 different products that's 3t of each which is a faff for the people supplying so it becomes more expensive and finally I feed it in the parlour so would need a way of blowing it into the cake loft which again is a faff adding to expense. Not many buying straight products in the UK? I buy from 5-6 different sellers. Buying blends also means buy everything from the same and on the same time, which i rarely find the cheapest option.I find the same. I’ve no interest in supplying a feed mill with an income. We use multiple brokers.
I know it's not for everyone. I build a barn 6 years ago for straight products. It saved me the price in less than 2 years. I get full artic loads of everything, as it's the cheapest way. So yes i have more in stock than 1 load on average. On the other hand, i can stock more if a good offer comes along or i have a few loads left on a cheap contract. I rent grain storage at another farm who doesn't have pigs anymore. It's more work than buying blends for sure, but the price difference is making it my best paid job.Would love to but several factors stop me, I don't have a mixer wagon so can't roll my own, I don't have enough cows to warrant decent size loads of different products - if I'm wanting say 18t total with 6 different products that's 3t of each which is a faff for the people supplying so it becomes more expensive and finally I feed it in the parlour so would need a way of blowing it into the cake loft which again is a faff adding to expense.
New feeders finally going in in the spring and then I'll switch to a custom blend so I can choose exactly what goes in it and therefore make sure none of the extra crap gets added
I feed nearly all straights just a little cake. Not many buying straight products in the UK? Everyone write about different blends.

It's on my wish list for when I eventually move home and expand enough to be able to warrant arctic loadsI know it's not for everyone. I build a barn 6 years ago for straight products. We can take arctic loads tipped, can store 90ton in each bay and have 4 bays.....It's on my wish list for when I eventually move home and expand enough to be able to warrant arctic loads
Did you ever calculate how much the price difference is, compared to buying the straights the cheapest place and time?We can take arctic loads tipped, can store 90ton in each bay and have 4 bays.....
Still have cake blown. Its simplicity is blissful
