Few options for this winter, none of them very exciting! Buy your cake wrong and milk price slip 4p and it wouldn't be that great!

Stick or twist, who knows where the price is heading.
People saying a bit of rain and the price of raw materials will fall,
In a world market a bit of rain in sunny England won't make jack as far as I can see.
If we could foward sell milk for the winter 21/22 then I would be a lot more comfortable with expensive cake!

Everything is expensive and no one really knows direction of travel of commodity prices.

I only want to buy 6 months worth.
Milk buyers got a keen intrest in sustainability of protien, which is the correct direction of travel. Needs to be paid for by someone tho. Guess that's down to us too.

I agree with you @Beef farmer any difference a bit of rain makes here is going to be negligible in the bigger picture, can't see milk price dropping either but the way inputs are going even if the price stands still it's as good as a drop anyway

Think we are being told our blend is running about £20pt more expensive than last year for winter atm. Have nothing contracted yet but watching daily. I think they’re having drought issues in South America currently? Which is pushing prices.

Yeah same here blend price is up £18. I wouldn't rush to buy, looks like commodities are falling. Soya in particular is falling and so is wheat post harvest.

Wheat went up 10 quid overnight

Could be a shortage of soya in usa keep an eye on it also maize in usa is going that way. Just spoke to grain traders in uk thinks feed wheet could hit 190 at harvest off the combine . Not trying to deposit livestock men been there in the past used to milk cows once . Just keep an eye on best opertunitys .

Soya is showing dearer for the oct/apr run than it is now

Would normally agree but things are moving that quick the now fixing 6 months would seem bold

So what did you do, I didn’t book anything and wish I’d bought some protein. Now trying to decided if I should buy a load of urea as silage quality is rubbish, or just buy as needed off local mill (4 mile away). No waste, always fresh etc. And much easier on the cash flow.

87 ton of rape to push in the maize ordered at 220

Crimped and maxxamon treated all but 150 ton of our own grain this year also. Will push some in the maize, some in the silage next may
