Looking to invest in a calf crush want to try and avoid buying brand new but will if needs be. Just need nice and simple. We currently run this death trap as you can see the bar to restrain the calf’s head is a jaw breaker and bloody dangerous.
This is what we do, so much easier and less stress on the calf we find. Only one problem, it’s to be banned on Red Tractor from next year.Just use paste
Have you changed to paste?Just use paste
For what reason? This is what we do, so much easier and less stress on the calf we find. Only one problem, it’s to be banned on Red Tractor from next year.
I have now yes....battery died on the horn up and bought some paste till I got a battery...haven’t bothered using it since....much easier with paste and makes a perfect jobHave you changed to paste?
I tried it before and got less than perfect results.
Well I better buy 50odd tubes thenThis is what we do, so much easier and less stress on the calf we find. Only one problem, it’s to be banned on Red Tractor from next year.
I’d save yourself some work and get them ringed and pasted instead of nippingWe haven’t tried paste, but I’d personally rather de bud as them I know it’s done. We also castrate at the same time with a burdizzo so the crush helps minimise movement.
I don’t believe it’ll be the buying of the tubes, but the use of them that will be prohibited. It’s something they’ll see quite clearly that you’ve been using during a visual inspection of the calves.Well I better buy 50odd tubes then
Not that I have many to debud now, but I just do them at a day old with iron and a ring, so no need for a crush. We haven’t tried paste, but I’d personally rather de bud as them I know it’s done. We also castrate at the same time with a burdizzo so the crush helps minimise movement.
