We looked at the technik (volac) feeder when setting our unit up, grand bit of kit. Definitely time efficient and great management tool, the only thing that put us off was the risk of it being unreliable and of course the initial cost, but it does work out to be a cost effective way in the long term, and you can’t beat the ad lib method of feeding. In the end we purchased a JFC milk kart and use 5 teat wydale feeders, until we are more established. We thought about DIY similar to one we set up for Cade lambs using a tropical fish heater and blue (very clean) barrels it could work if you found a man enough heater, then ran the pipes to the teats attached to a wooden board??
