Calf problem

Have a calf that's about 10 weeks old that has the following symptoms

•star gazes, looking into the air
•can hold its head to one side and back over
•very unbalanced, can fall over if you go to grab it

It's very much like swayback in lambs....never had a calf like this before....Cows are bolused, calf has been given a multi vit, course of pen, and today given a shot of vissel....he's even had his lugs washed out! in case of ear infection
He's not blind in either eye

Anyone else had a similar one
TIA

Sounds as if it is in the brain,I would maybe try with noroclav or betamox that is what our vet recommends for deep seated infection. Good luck.

Had one more or less exactly the same. He was anoxic at birth. I caught the birth on the CCTV and his Mum didn't get up quickly enough and he was trapped in the bag. Took ages to bring him round and I thought all was OK at first. He went on to do OK, just a sod getting him in from the fields as he tended to run around like a headless chicken. The important thing was to be very quiet and gentle with him so he didn't get too upset. Have to say, he did much better inside than out. I eventually sold him as a store at around 10 months of age to go straight into a shed to be fattened, and as far as I know, all went OK.
Good luck

With the head on either side and unbalanced when walking, could be meningitis. Comes on very quickly tho. How long has he been like it? Shot of Norfenicol would begin to sort it
He's been getting worse but he's levelled out...dad was at vets half an hour ago and she seemed to think it could be menengitis too...gave us some noroclav as @Top Tip. suggested and some flunixin
