Snap test has come back as crypto, luckily negative for rotavirus, ecoli and cocci

We had crypto this year. Its a pretty boring disease and not much fun.

Get Halcour from your vets, dose all your calves with it after 24hrs, and dose them with it for 7 days,until crypto has frizzled away. Which it normally does here.
We had crypto a couple of years ago, tried a few things, finally got parafor liquid from vet. Squirt down the throat for first week did the trick.
Keep the chin up, the person who tells you they have no dead stock has no livestock.
We put it in the milk, not recommended way of dosing, but convenient
@Jdunn55 the moment I read your first post I thought crypto, PLEASE make sure you are seriously careful about your hygiene routine, not just with the calves, but yourself. Crypto stuck me in hospital for some time once. With the symptoms, it gets bad, then seems to start getting better, then gets really bad. Look after yourself mate.
I know a man whose 6 year old son was in hospital for a week with it. Our boy was off school for a week with it, had environmental health on with me wondering if I knew where he could have picked it up.
Really nasty bug.
Yeah we took out 2 vet students with it. Told them not to kiss the calves and take pictures for Instagram....but what do I know

trouble is, in a couple of years, you might be the one paying their wages ! And for certain, you know more than them.

When I had it, the week it got the worst and I was carted into hospital, the hospital weighed me, by the end of the week I had lost 2 stone. Bearing in mind I had already had it for a few days.

We found halcour did nothing for us in the end just use the parafor powder now.

Haven't heard of that, I take it its meant to do the same thing? I'll speak to the vet about it

Don’t blame yourself. We all get problems.
Once they go down with crypto there’s not a lot that will bring them back. At least you now know what you’re dealing with. crypto seems to be kept on top of with hcur/kriptazen add it in the milk as you feed them, don’t over dose. Keep your head up and go again!

Just a side note, drag a silage sheet over them so when rt turn up it's all fine

Don’t be so hard on yourself,we were flying along with no trouble at all, up until 3 weeks ago,cleaned calving yard out and boom had nothing but trouble with next 5 calves born,1 died so got vet to sample straight away and came back as crypto,halogen for 7 days has sorted it right out for me and all settled down now
Underdose if anything. Its very harsh
