I have a calf with a nasty abscess on his tongue when he sucks it bleeds ( and I mean bleeds blood runs down mums leg ) what will have caused this 'wooden tongue', bee sting, thorn? It was really swollen but is slowly going down now and he was quite ill 4 or 5 days ago but slowly mending now he obviously wasn't sucking mum. It still bleeds when it sucks and has really knocked him. Would wooden tongue clear up by itself?

Wooden tongue in classic form (A Pyogenes) was a PenStrep job for 7 days. Now, I'd go for Betamox for a calf, say 5- 8ml a day I/M daily for 5-7 days for a 50-80kg calf to ensure complete resolution.
