Looks like its had a new cab at some point. I don't think they were making them with Super Q cabs in 1979.

I think it's just a Super-Q cab top. Inside, it looks like ordinary bubble cab. Other than the later quadrant and indicators, that is. It's a queer machine, all right?

This sounds like my ideal thread, lol...

At a guess, it has been made by someone. There is nothing about it in the roadless bible, and they never used those front axles, the 6 cylinder engines were always industrial ford engines. There's also no side rails. However, looking in the 4th pic it looks like the prop shaft is like on a roadless (transfer box to the left) but I'm not sure how that would work with the central diff, and the ford cab was never used because it wouldn't fit over the transfer box. Being 1979, maybe it was a pm78 that has been modified?

there was an odd ball Ford/Roadless being used on a vacuum tanker around the site, looked very similar. Its also in the right area too

The last official roadless was built in 83 then was taken over by jewels who built a few but ceased in 86 I think only a parts business from then.

Correct, only built equal wheel models though and still had the lambourne cab

Yes, I think I'll have to get my 118 tidied up a bit before I think about getting another!

Cab & mudguards= super Q, yet door handles & steps from old Q cab. Intriguing.

its a 7600 back end, crash gearbox and a Q cab, with a Super Q roof and mudguards fitted, schindler front axle and a 6 cylinder engine, possibly from a combine as rotary pump, 7810/8210/TW where all inline pump

Yep, just another bit bolted on!! This is definitely the tractor working on the GDSF site, driver said it was a right bitsa too, but TBH it did run very well!! That was 3 years ago now though!
