Calling all sheep and beef cattle farmers in the South West of England
Hi all, happy new year to you.
If you have a few mins to spare, please can you spare a few minutes and share some of your farming experiences by completing this survey on farm management practices:
surveymonkey.co.uk/r/farmmanagement

Human Behaviour Change for Life (HBCL) is undertaking research about farming practices in the South West of England, with particular reference to those involved in farming sheep and/or beef cattle. The results from this research will enable partners to understand some of the challenges farmers face, the opportunities available and what support could help farmers.

Thank you!

Primmiemoo - the organisation HBCL is an offshoot of HBCA (Human Behaviour change for Animals) which you found there. HBCA dealt with animal related issues as you can probably guess! New website for HBCL (which cover broader issues due to demand) is on its way, but if you want to know anything specific let me know and I'll do my best :)

Ha, sorry for being suspicious @burythetrash!! will explain below.
@choochter - there is no 2020 end date, not sure where that came from but possibly the link to unrelated project posted by someone else?

@egbert and @burythetrash - it is just an agency who work on various projects including in animal health, environmental, farming etc. in this instance we are interested in finding out what farmers are doing in terms of grazing management, if people are concerned about productivity of their grazing or pretty happy with it, whether people want help with things like NMP creation, implementation, soil analysis etc.
obviously with the coming SFI and all that there are big changes on the horizon so just interested in peoples views abour their grazing management. We don’t then sell a product or anything. And we can let you know some of the stuff we find if you’d like.

any other questions just give me a shout, hopefully that seems less susp now!!

From what I have read, they would like us to complete a survey so that they might use the information to create an algorithm for use with artificial intelligence so that they might subsequently be able to surreptitiously manipulate our behaviours.
Good luck manipulating sheep farmers behaviour… for the most part we are rather belligerent and contrary… 😳😂

I was up to late last night to start looking now.
It sounds as unlikely as anything i've heard this year!

Well the year isn't a day old yet!!!

But I'm not completely mad. It is known that there are several studies going on at the moment as to how government can adjust public opinion.
I'm not saying that is good or bad.
I think they have used these new principles very effectively with encouraging people to get vaccinated.

The basic purpose of HBCP;

i) identify ontologies related to human behaviour change that could be re-used in part or in full in the development of an ontology for the domain of human behaviour change

The only problem I have with this approach is that it is the opposite to being consulted.
'You' are asked about your reasoning and choice determination and then that is manipulated such that you are likely to change your choices without any discussion about the repercussions of that change in choice of which the manipulator may be considerably less informed about than the manipulated.
