Calving jack

Do people have any recommendations from a new calving jack. This is what I have the now. Thinking the jacks that are C shaped and go up round onto the pins might be better. Thanks

You can buy a Vink style head to go on your HK calving aid for about £30 , made by Moorepark.

I bought one from Fane Valley for my Tecnall calving aid about 5 years ago.

All the round bar type Jack's I've used seem to get worn enough for the ratchet to not work, and always at the point you need it to work.

The answer to the original question is Vink.

Which calving jack and which fertiliser spreader are about the only two such topics which come up on TFF that pretty much everyone is agreed on!!

I find the vink a cumbersome awkward thing to get on on your own with fidgety awkward cows up until the point you’ve got pressure on the ropes
From there on you can’t go wrong, they simply stay where they’re put regardless of how awkward the cow is, I’ve never had mine come off or remotely look like coming off once there’s pressure on the ropes unlike the round bar type which would slip off for fun
