On a Tenanted Farm in my situation putting up sheds isnt a cheap hobby neither. Why not invest in the best storage in the country, that will last generations and future proof all your requirements AND sling up basic sheds On farm to rent out and use for industrial use. Best of both worlds and I know quite a few doing that.
Because farmer can take advantage of favourable agricultural planning rules to build a massive shed, then declare it redundant and turn it into a warehouse in a position where no warehouse would ever be allowed. I’ve seen it happen. Eventually this will mean it’s harder for genuine farmers to put sheds they need for their business up on farm and everybody will lose out. I think it’s depressing. Why ?
Loads of farmers do this irrelevant of whether they have CS or not. Been going on for years.Because farmer can take advantage of favourable agricultural planning rules to build a massive shed, then declare it redundant and turn it into a warehouse in a position where no warehouse would ever be allowed. That maybe true but to be honest I cant see the problem, we have ten industrial units here, all but but two in old farm buildings that have little use in modern farming, they provide employment for decent number of people, all are self employed and couldnt afford rents on a "proper" industrial estate. We have built 20,000 sqft of modern buildings to replace them which created uk employment in the manufacturing of them , we are now almost surrounded by new houses or industrial, I dont see what's different to me doing it compared to developers.Because farmer can take advantage of favourable agricultural planning rules to build a massive shed, then declare it redundant and turn it into a warehouse in a position where no warehouse would ever be allowed. We will have to agree to disagree. Seen a few farms do it more than once. I don’t like the urbanisation of our countryside. That maybe true but to be honest I cant see the problem, we have ten industrial units here, all but but two in old farm buildings that have little use in modern farming, they provide employment for decent number of people, all are self employed and couldnt afford rents on a "proper" industrial estate. Is it any different to holiday let's on a farm, at least industrial ones are normally near towns and any farm that puts up a farm building and then changes its use wont get a second one as planning conditions would be imposed to stop it
Lucky man eh.... cant do this here even if i had the best of sheds custom built. We will have to agree to disagree. Seen a few farms do it more than once. I don’t like the urbanisation of our countryside.
After tax relief, I believe our recent sale of some cs space was almost exactly what we paid for it.
