Does it bother anybody that the gear lever in on the right? Rather than left on all other bikes?
Probably nicer on the gearbox.. they aren't synchro.. that way you have your hand off the throttle?
Blimmin good machines IMO
Had a outlander 400, just a cheapie ex trade one and it took everything I gave it.
Then my old boss got a 500 one and it was even better
Then I traded in my 400 and got a new Commander 1000XT and it's just...
I'd buy another one tomorrow.

They are getting a lot more common around these parts but it's largely exchange rate that stops the die-hard Suzuki/Honda buyers replaces like with like. 19k for a bike that's basically a 15 year old design with new stickers is a bit silly IMO. They must feel the same, also the ride comfort sways many older farmers with crook backs.
About the only downsides other than "ooh Trev it's different" that I can see, is the lack of a separate rear brake for skidding them around.. and the CVT can slip if you force a lot of water in the intake with a hose. But the throttle works a lot better [emoji106]and they go across mud like it's not there as a result

The foot brake is 100% rear if you like doing skids! And the CVT inlet and air box inlet is just under the handle bars so your safe in water even up to just over the seat!

I really do like them. And I considered myself unlikely to buy anything that wasn't either a Honda or 'Zuki after having such a great run with MX and farm bikes.
The earlier Outlanders were plenty loud enough I thought. Commander with full doors roof etc is loud enough too with the reverberation, will probably put some deadening on the inside of the roof one day, but that's not so relevant to this thread.
If I was buying a quad I'd go for either the 650 or the 800, and beef up my trailer!!

Digging this back up.

Been on CanAm website and its hopeless IMO - what's the difference between the models? What do you get standard on the basic bike, and what extra is on the Pro?

Nearest dealer is 2hr away so I can't just go for a look...

Stiffer suspension (or is it better carrying capacity because of new suspension?), tougher seat cover. If there is more I cant remember them.

Cracking bike though.

Basic and Pro both read 50kg and 100kg rack carry capacity...

So basically you're paying for alloy wheels?
I couldn't remember which it was but the suspension has been beefed up iirc. Is the tri mode steering available in the basic? I do like the steering but the tri mode is pish, you never change it. I did at the start but it was a novelty.

It was a friends basic model that swayed me to can am so they are both good bikes.

I don't know... that's why I'm asking. The website gives you basic specs for chassis etc but doesn't tell you what you do/don't get. The Pro just say you get all the Pro extras

It's a sh!t website

I use google, I find the search function on here poor.

I use Google too. Type in what you're looking for and put "the farming forum" at the end of it. But you still don't get all the threads you're looking for

Life would be simpler if BRP just had a decent website and told you the actual difference between bikes
