Been out a while now, anyone got one?

I have a 570 Pro currently, which has the (2 yr) warranty running out at the end of the year. It is the one machine here that does need to run reliably every day, so like to keep them relatively new. I wasn't considering changing it early, but a new 650 has a 5yr warranty just now, if bought before the end of July, and current bike still has a good trade in value, so contemplating doing so (pending a demo, obviously).

Over the 570 it has improved suspension, gone back to using the (much preferable IMO) plastic covered racks and towing capacity increased from 590kg to 750kg (which in 'farmer speak', means good for a ton). Power up from 48hp to 59, but that's an aside as the 570 isn't lacking power.

Before anyone mentions other brands.....I had a Suzuki King Quad on loan while CanAm being serviced and found it surprisingly spritely, but nowhere near as stable as the CanAm under cornering and the gear selector is both on the wrong side, and seemed to need to be in Neutral to start it. Well built bike though, just not a CanAm. Don't like (or would afford) modern Hondas, can't afford the breakdowns & repairs on a Polaris and the local Yamaha dealer lifted my leg on a Merlo service, so not putting money in their pocket if I can help it.

A Bedford rascal I find very effective for going around the stock so worth a look at.

You might be right.:playful:

I did, for an Outlander 650. It’s a great bike, apart from the new driveshaft it needed last November (‘engine out’ job, and a ten day repair as local dealer & CanAm seem to have become cr*p for stocking/delivering parts😡). Fine after that fix….. until now, when it’s been back in for the exact same job for the last 2 weeks, held up for exactly the same reason despite me ringing ahead to be assured all the parts were in stock.😡

Cracking bike, apart from those two problems, but I’m looking at other makes now, or definitely not from that dealer again.

I have a manual 400 Suzuki asa loan bike currently, and I won’t be getting one of those! Quite spritely and runs on a sniff of petrol, but so numb by comparison.
Not sure where to go next tbh, but a few demos needed I think.

I was just looking at the Can-am 650, it's time to trade in my grizzly 700se, whick has been a brilliant bike only thing it's had is oil and pads in 15000 miles, and have been waiting since March to get a new one, now they have finally arrived in the country again, I nearly collapsed at the fecking price!!!!!🤬🤬 £14k so looking at other options.

What goes wrong with the drive shafts? What's it like on fuel?

Driveshaft coupling stops engaging 4wd. Still goes, but gets stuck spinning on a fodder beet.

No idea if it’s just mine (a dodgy casting has been suggested), or a common fault, but mine’s in for the second time with the same fault. If the dealer had got the parts in, as they said they had, it would have been fixed in a day, but…😡
Still under a 5 year warranty, or I dread to think what it would be costing.

No idea on fuel as a job to compare. Obviously drinks more if you give it some welly, and less if you don’t. It has plenty of welly if you want🤐 and is very comfortable and stable, so lots of plus points.

There was a number of can ams sold here years back they are reported to be unreliable not many about now

They used to be bombproof, but appear to have gone downhill in recent years. I love the bike, apart from the issue with drive shaft failure. I would have been happy to keep one outside warranty, but not now. 5year warranty on this one, but it might be gone before that.

They have all gone that way. I have 2 Hondas and a Suzuki. Honda has gone downhill over the years. The 420 knocks balljoints out for fun. The Suzuki usually has 4 front wheel bearings a year so does the Honda.

What Suzuki have you got? We virtually never need to replace Suzuki wheel bearings, Honda on the other hand…..🤦‍♂️
