threaded screw on one on a michelin pump does brilliant and simple.trouble is its plastic partly might not last with rigorous nuse nothinmg so awkward as holding one on whilst you blow up a rear tyre thats down ...

Screwfix do the pcl with twin hold on end for £52.49 (+vat) so qualifies for free delivery. I bought a replacement last week after the old one had countless years of abuse. You can buy the clip on end, but no experience of it.
PCL also do one rated to higher pressures & has a longer hose, but its obviously more money. All depends what you’re likely to be using it for.

Sealey do a PCL quality garage type inflator.
This is the best chuck I have ever found, push onto valve. Pull sideways slightly to engage valve threads and holds fast.

Standard PCL here but with the 6’ hose. Much prefer being stood further from the tyre than right next to it. Also have the twin clip on end - hold on sounds like hard work.

Tempted by a digital one but then there’s the hassle of changing batteries too.

I have a small digital tyre gauge from Amazon that is by the compressor so can be used for more accuracy if needed.

Fairly sure it's mandatory for the longer (6'?) hose for tyre fitters. Tried to get one the last time I was shopping for an air line. Failed miserably must be double standards.😒

^ That is the sort of end you want. I replaced the older style clip on on my PCL mk3 and added a 3m hose. A very worth while investment.

It had one of these on before and it almost always needed a hand on it to stay sealed on tyre valves

I’d agree. Bought one of those twin end clip on to replace a hold on type on mk3 pcl…didn’t stay on long, found it useless. Recently bought a mk4 twin hold on as the gauge on mk3 would stick at low pressures. Might buy one of those other clip on ends & longer hose & get it back use again as it was fine 40-50psi & above.

I had a PCL pen type gauge for around 40 years until I lost it. Excellent piece of kit, might need to adjust the sealing washer to fit some valves, but that was about it. Bought a replacement PCL one looked the same but nowhere near the quality of the old one, the casing looked like they used an old catfood tin and no adjustment on the attachment end. Got it replaced under warranty and the replacement replaced. The digital types will always need a new battery when you come to use them, prefer a dial gauge with a telltale such as ARB make.
