Hi there looking to upgrade to sf2 on the way to sf3 I suppose but£1800 sounds dear , I probably will but after using my grace periods I want to see how well it drilled on the hills before I commit.
After speaking with JD they said I could move my sf2 unlock from a sf3000 to a sf6000 for a fee which made me think they must be transferable?
Is the unlock code in the dome or the screen?
And if it's in the screen can I buy one second hand unlocked or similar for the dome?
Or is there a cheaper way?
I'm not saying it's not a good thing but £2000 to get a number emailed really hurts .

I drill with sf1 with good results on Hill’s too, I do think there’s a market for pay as you go type signal upgrades. Don’t really need high accuracy all year but couple months when cultivating and drilling. If it can be done with preloaded grade periods should be doable.

Used a grace period this year and it went to sf2 not sf3?!:scratchhead::unsure:

You certainly could sell them as I sold the unlocks we had on Greenstar when we moved to topcin

Not sure if that’s still the case though as it was a few years back now

Do you even need a dealer to do it ?

I’m guessing as not had sf for yrs now but surely it can be done in that stellar support thingy ? Old owner deregister and then let’s new owner know the code to upgrade his kit ?

@CPP would be the man who knows for sure

Yes cheers I'll look into it. Tbh I've drilled some using sf2 grace period and the want to see how good it is before I bother
Be interested to hear what you think of sf2 we've drilled 700 acres on sf1 and most of it is fine but there's the odd wide bit on a really steep sidling here and there. We drilled 40 acre on sf2 didn't change any widths or offset so it had plenty overlap in theory and there's still the odd wide bit on one side but definitely liveable.

I used my grace periods up drilling a couple of years ago and couldn't see any difference. Done it all on sf1 since and never had a problem even on hills.

Used to get more problems drilling with a vaderstad due to trying to keep on top of the ever changing offset.

Agree with Longneck on SF1 bought the 6000 reciever this year and think its amazingly different from the 3000 minimal drift and less loss of signal with the 3d on the 6000 under trees etc. Has been great even with the vaddy over some of our major hills.

So would spending the money on a 6000 dome be better investment than sf2 subs

If you want rapid convergence but at the expense of a bit less accuracy, get a 6000. If you don't mind waiting a bit longer but better accuracy once you're going for drilling so you don't have to nudge the AB line after filling the drill up I'd still prefer the SF2 and the older 3000 receiver. I had the option of both when I got a loan tractor from JD and fitted my own SF3000 with SF2 for drilling this year. That's just my opinion, having not done any kind of scientific research or field trials with both options.

JD were offering a good part ex deal a few years ago to go from the iTC to the SF3000. I've not heard anything about a similar programme for upgrading from the SF3000 to the SF6000. You'd have to pay to get your SF 1/2 unlocks transferred too.

Thanks chaps. I've only got three more days drilling and it's been powerharrowed so able to see mark. So I think I'll sort it out over winter. On the plus side the first field I drilled is just showing and it looks like it's been pretty accurate so I'm more confident in getting it now. .
Thanks again .
