Can I Keep Them?

It’s time the coppers got these bell ends sorted out good and proper before someone gets shot....they are nothing but complete scum, they want gassing and burying in a well
Shame to pollute a valuable water source, I favour making fertiliser out of them. First time many of them would have been good for anything. Wop 'em through a forage harvester. Do it feet first and you could enjoy listening to the screams as they go through...

You would think that that was a good idea... until the Police refuse to go into a camp looking for them and tell you that you cannot do it yourself in case you cause a breach of the peace. Usually around here, if a piece of kit has a tracker, the tracker is the only thing you get back. Country cousins can smell a tracker from fifty feet and seem expert at removing them.
A local lorry hire company had one of their curtain-siders turn up in London last year, after the boss received a call via the police from the anti-terrorist unit, while he was having a pint in the pub. They had found the truck in a lock up after a tip off, and were thinking it was terror related as it had been "modified", but it turned out to have been altered to suit some thievery. The pikeys had got hold of some gear from an insider in the army to deal with the tracker, so they couldn't be traced.

I am told that under certain circumstances you can use an app on a mobile or thermal imager to pick up alarm beams too. You think you have cracked the problem and they are two steps ahead of you every time.

One of my friends was in a gun shop behind a scrote who shelled out £4500 in cash for a thermal imager. Couple of weeks later a bobby bounces into my office "Look! Look! I've got a thermal imager! We've got them now!" I asked what range, he said 600m. "I don't mean to burst your bubble, but one of the local lads has just been into the gun shop an bought one with a 1500m detection range. They have time to smoke a fag and have a brew before you even get near them" really spoiled his day, but on the up-side, at least his superiors were trying to give him the kit to do the job.

Honda CRV is the weapon of choice down here. Local rural crime team is very good, wilts police have just made it larger and they have 4wd trucks to get around. I think the most useful thing that has been done is a whatsapp group with almost all the farms in the area on it, with members of the rural crime team and also the MOD police for the Salisbury plain training area. I would be certain that @Phil P was down here and reported the incident on the whatsapp there would have been a quick response from the police, also farmers go out and see if they can find where the problem has moved to. It has been very successful this year and hopefully will be better this winter.

I keep hearing good things about your group! ours is pretty good but hard at times to keep the negativity Away when the 999 call handler tells you to get off the line and stopping wasting their time!

There are a couple on the group who I wonder about, dont think they ever sleep. The relationship with the police is key to ever getting this under control and I think we are lucky to have some very good officers in the rural crime team. Ive heard of issues issues with 999, we are told to call them immediately

The NFU and CLA both have regular meetings with the PCC and CC in our area too. Once a year. Coffee, Biscuits and flannel. Ticks a box for the membership organisations though. Happy members, but still without their quads unfortunately.

Don't be too pessimistic, the rural vote is still important for the PCC and the elections are next May!!

We have at last a team for rural policing who are doing everything they can to make a mark. I have some dedicated officers who talk to me and I can contact which is a great improvement. We also have the beginnings of a WhatsApp group and this is becoming more effective as different people join in. You need Game keepers, forestry workers, late night delivery men etc.

Police have been wary about using Trackers as the early ones did not give a precise location, however those fitted now are very accurate and they are beginning to realise they can use them for prosecutions.
Progress has been slow but these meetings do eventually do some good and the important point is to log every crime and suspicious vehicle. Get to know your rural team if you have one, they are willing to help but they are often not from a farming or rural background.

Had the hare coursers round this afternoon. Tried 101 and couldn’t get through. I’ll report it later tonight.
On a separate note quick search on Facebook for hare coursers and there are groups on there with public posts and videos of hare coursing. What are the police doing?

If you ever get this again, email your local police and crime commissioner. They are good at holding police to their word.
