Of course you can, I presume you have a PRS licence ;)
That was my next question although I'm not sure if a site radio comes under public entertainment ,,not like it's a shop to keep customers happy ,,it wouldnt be any diferent to working in a garden and the home owner putting their radio on ,,bit of a grey area

Only myself that will hear it.
That makes it a bit less clear cut.
butyou do need a regular weather forecast and the news provides information about likely market conditions, plus it keeps you sane. So yes fully justified, but, and a big but, you must not listen to it in your spare time, as that would a benefit in kind.
so the tax specialist in me suggests you are fine.
I will be sending my bill ;)
just remember I owe you for advice on trees so I will skip that one:)
However I would add the common disclaimer, my advice is worth what you paid for it:)

A local farm supply company used to sell good quality French brandy at Christmas. It was always invoiced only by it's 'part number'.
I know for a fact that my book keeper and accountant google any obscure descriptions on invoices. Perks ain't what they used to be...

On the basis that a new tractor (or pickup) will include an entertainment system that must be largely the equal in price of that radio, and no one has ever been forced to remove the cost of the entertainment system from the VAT claim for a tractor, one would conclude that radios for work purposes should be an allowable item for VAT purposes.

But tax often being devoid of any sense of logic I wouldn't want to bet too much on it.....

A bit of guidance here:

https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/vat-input-tax/vit54500

Its about claiming for repairs and replacements for cars, but does mention that use of a radio can be considered a claimable item, as long as its not overly expensive. They also suggest that apportioning some of the VAT to personal use might be in order.
