don't care if it's 'officially' allowed or not i'm gonna jfdi if needs must
I see plenty doing it.
problem it leaves a marker in the tank , quite happy to pay the duty (so its on record) just dont want to waste hrs in a que
No it doesn't, but DERV contaminated with red is easy spotted with the right kit, most fuel companies prefer to deliver derv drops together to save any problems with contamination, some even have a dedicated lorry that does nothing other than derv & petrol.
It's something like 1litre in 1000 they can pick up.
Stand partially corrected
Insurance would probably not pay out on damage to vehicle engine due to use of incorrect fuel,
Same stuff just a bit of dye.
I once got a load of undyed Kero dyed for going to the south, 4~5 litres of dye was all it took for the 39000 litres of Kero load.
Dangerous stuff that red dye 😂😂😂
It is, some got spilt on a tanker once & it had to be repainted.

Times like this wish we still made our own out of chip fat, remember being very smug driving around smelling like a chip shop when the last 'fuel crisis' was on.
Something i've never known, is the fullers earth thing a myth ?
No, if the reports that years ago sales of cat litter were limited in NI due to the IRA buying tons of it to strain red diesel to get the dye out in order to make money, are correct.

No you are still insured , however according to the motor insurers association many drivers caught with red diesel illegally also have no insurance, but this is not because red disqualifies them but the nature of drivers using red.
The site does warn, a conviction for using red is likely to push up premiums

North west of England not surprisingly was the epicentre of the Fullers Earth/ cat litter diesel scam. The problem was that fine clay particles got through and fudged up the injectors in a lot of cars. Best method was using Renault tractor fuel filters. They filtered out the red. Other method was a bread stick sealed with cling film and the red filtered through. The starch in the bread removed the dye. J cloths also have a 1 micron filtration effect.
