Can you tell what this is yet?

Glued some bits together over the last few months, almost ran out of time and was still warm when pressed into service but can anyone tell what it is?

Cut some box, made some frames, had a few to do so made the first into a template.

Welded some lugs on decided the infill needed more strength so welded some of the cubicle off cuts back in, not very tidy but gives extra support.

Very good @bravheart . What diameter is your circular pen?
We push our cattle back into a 12' gap between buildings and then run them into a small pen before going one at a time into race then crush.
I would like to make something similar but not sure there is enough width.

well done, years ago l made a forcing pen for sheep, sounds easy, but complicated to make, mine was mobile as well.

picked up an idea for a curved race for cattle, fixed, basically flat tin, nailed onto strong posts, those yanks are well ahead of us, when it comes to handling systems

Wheel on second gate runs against main gate and forms part of the race when closed, chain pulls it back and resets for the next batch

Ran out of time to make a sliding gate and 6 weeks waiting time for orders so quickly made a swinging backing gate can be worked from outside

Had to be a one person cattle handling system without walking miles or costing a bucket load of cash.
So still needs some finishing touches but a corneless crowder cattle handling system working as required.

And for those looking for a calving gate this is the collecting area for the handler. Needs a few more gates but has this off the shelf number at the far end

Hi Kenny I made it fit the gates I had.
The big gate with the spring catch was 10' including the hinge to the edge of the turning post which was another 4 1/2". Worked out the hurdles needed to be 5' when the joining square posts were 3" with another 3" each side for hinges and another 3" for the hurdle eye. Of course there's an overlap here but the hurdles ended up 5' wide and 11" apart with a small amount of leeway in the slotted hurdle eyes. Plus half a 10' stockboard fitted perfectly.
As luck would have it as lockdown eased last summer Edinburgh uni decided at the last minute to hold a graduation ceremony so friends of ours came to watch their sons graduation and they called in on route. Now he's a mathematical actuary and the son graduated with first class honours in mathematics but it still took them over an hour of sohcahtoa'ing to confirm what I'd worked out with a few wooden rails. They were stuck with a real world calculation which should have taken a few minutes on paper:scratchhead: Probably didn't help when I tried to describe it as the length of one side on the circumference on a thrupenny bit with a 10' radius o_O.
So a long story but diameter just over 20'. If you need any more info just ask.

Tried to load our new cattle trailer for the first time yesterday. Looks like we’ll need a forcing pen like this onto a loading ramp as they really didn’t like it! Anyone got ideas on a combo loading and handling set up?
