The Canary seed might thresh out a lot better with the triticale in it .

Probably 5-7 days off yet, looks a thick crop this year but very close to the ground now! I’m just hoping it’s resting on it’s self and I can get under it.Anyone cut theirs yet?
Cut ours yesterday.Anyone cut theirs yet?
Its more like hay than straw. Funny stuff.I don’t normally sell straw, but have baled this.
30 6 stringers off 25ac
First time we’d grown it, so not sure on head size. It wasn’t overly thick. That hot dry spell did it no favours. Its more like hay than straw. Funny stuff.
0.5/ac Was it a thin crop or small heads or both?
Ditto. Struggled in the drought. Seed slot opened up. Only really got going in June. Almost sprayed it off in may. Weeds aplenty. But there is crop nowThat hot dry spell did it no favours.
This time I DD Trit straight into residue/thick volunteers. Chopped the straw.Do you DD into the residue or bale it ?
Finished cutting ours last Thursday, think it’s done about same as you 1.2t/ha, it’s been over the Weighbridge but I’ve not had chance to check the tickets yet. Looked like it was going to do a lot better but found a lot of empty heads! Not sure if the late frost combined with drought stress may have affected some of the early heads. Either way it should turn a small profit so will be staying for another year.Anyone cut their canary? Reckon I got about 1.2 t/ha versus last years 2t/ha. Getting it into into perspective its a damn sight better than It looked in May. Still a bit of profit I think
£380/tWhat’s it worth ?
Find me a break crop that’s cheap and easy to grow, makes a big profit and I can follow with wheat and I’ll grow that insteadProfit at 1.2t/ha? A real profit?
