I’d consider it if Olly Harrison was president. He’s the only one I’d trust to actually put the members and industry first.
If he supports and they (NFU) successfully get reinstatement of CCA treatment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromated_copper_arsenate for fencing timber asap and continued use at least until a new and very effective chemical or process is developed for use.......

Then I will rejoin , wholeheartedly ......(y)

I received this from my former NFU secretary today. Some important shifts in position but a long way to go?
Reading through all that tosh has given me a headache. It seems that RT have sat together and tried to think of any possible regulation they could introduce.Good to see the NFU are making a stand, not enough, but a start.
Let's not forget the NFU wouldn't have done anything if there hadn't been the backlash and anger to the consultation on this forum and among farmers in general.

82 pages!!!

Its all utter crap. You can condense what is really important on one page of A4 or less

1. Don't break the law or regulations
2. Store your grain at the correct moisture
3. Monitor your grain (which is in your interest anyway) and use the AHDB Grain store Guide

That really is it. Just get rid of it - the evidence that it is meaningless is evidenced loud and clear by the willingness to accept imports. I can't even see the reason for debate about it. REd Tractor particularly on the grains/ sugar contributes nothing, its utterly worthless

Look at this sample of one of the RT rules:

Breastfeeding or pregnant women are restricted from entry to areas where PPPs have been applied for a minimum of 48 hours, unless a longer duration is stipulated on the label

OK how do you find out if someone is breastfeeding or pregnant if you are not sure? Do you ask them? "Hi - are you breastfeeding at the moment, if so please don't go in my chemical store", or "Hi are you pregnant? If not do you want to come into the back of the chem store with me?". This is just all so innane and a waste of pixels and paper.

I think there are two separate subjects being discussed here - I was reporting feedback from the NFU on how their position appears to have shifted and I think to be fair have taken on board some of the concerns we raised about RT. There is acknowledgement that there are concerns about parity with imported grain for instance. Is it enough? No, I don’t think so, but in all these things, there are NfU members who do not agree with what we are asking for, so it is very unlikely you will get everything you ask for. We asked for NFu to take a firmer stand with RT and lobby AIC and there has been a reaction to that - not as far as I would like but nevertheless we should acknowledge that.
I agree, RT needs to go as it stands as I’ve said previously.

All jobsworths have too much time on their hands.
what takes the biscuit is that the Nfu are being employed by jobsworths so they have now become jonsworths themselves and we are the fools paying them. We are running round in circles counting mice and insects etc when we should be producing food.
The NFU are in on it too, so We are to blame for this for not ALL coming out en masse.

There must be a pocket of resistance around here. A friend and a cousin have left the NFU and another cousin waiting for his membership renewal all because of the lack of support from HQ regarding the RT racket.

I’m learning of more and more people that will be leaving the NFU. Rather than just waiting for renewal though they should be informing their local branch of their intentions.

i think the NFU have only started to take notice BECAUSE members are leaving

had social media not made so much noise about this the proposed RT gold plate would have been signed off and inevitable by now

Individuals are making a difference, my faith in UK farmers ability to act is slowly being restored !

I quite agree - now is not the time to back off!

The nfu are GRATEFULL that the red tractor has given them time?????? who do these rt lot think they are, Royalty, god or what.

If you see previous announcements from Red Tractor they said categorically they would not consider submissions accept by their consultation form. So based on that they would have completely ignored this NFU response. Looks like NFU got special dispensation to respond in this way.

Red Tractor said however they would not consider any farmer comments on TFF in their consultation.

yet i would suggest social media will have made more differences to Red tractors plans / future than the NFU will have

There should be an unconditional surrender by RT. They have to go. Those on their payroll should not be employed by any new setup. If it's equal to imports then there won't be a new setup anyway.
Surely you don’t think RT will role over and disappear.

Farmers might win a battle here but not only do I not see the end of RT in sight, I very much doubt they will change their long term objectives
