Some seem to think all "membership " is the same.
From what I have read and understood its not.

But hey can't beat a bit of SM gossiping.

It was said in jest.

One farmer member one vote, is that clearer to read for you?

one farmer member one vote and I WILL rejoin tomorrow .......

Another suspicion Poirot?

prove otherwise? not a week ago you claimed it was exclusive farmer membership...... until we gave you a link to the NFU’s own website detailing corporate and other membership options :ROFLMAO:

Why not ask head office ? i doubt you will get a straight answer though

personally i cant see Tesco getting the same bill you do though ! even different farmers pay different membership fees based on size. .. so who is most important to keep happy ? little guy or big guy ?

Re-read my post

I never claimed anything of the sort!
I asked you for proof as you kept posting about supermarkets being members.

I then apologised I believe.
That I will do when wrong which is more than some on here!

“if” for example Tesco held NFU corporate membership do you think they would be asked to pay the same membership fee as you do ?

Well you seem to be in the "know" more than actual paid up members
How much is it then?

no one wiill tell me, i have asked many times as have others

maybe as a member you should ask ?

GDPR will be why they say they can’t tell you who members are or what they pay .......... how very convenient !

Well I have been reading and contributing to all the various threads regarding the NFU and the gold plating RT cartel. From what I can gather the NFU were very dismissive of the storm that was brewing her on the TFF,we were an irrelevance and they would not engage. Now things seem to be changing,Stuart Roberts has said in the FW online that the hypocrisy of unassured grain imports being mixed with RT grain needs to be addressed. There was a lot of jargon and waffle but I think that is what they were saying along with singing the praises of RT and how beneficial it will become as markets open up.

I do get the feeling, however, that they are trying to appease us by conceding a little and hoping we go away. This must not happen and we must push on not only with unassured imported grain but all the unnecessary gold plating and duplication of what is already law.The same should apply not only with grain but all facets of RT such as beef and lamb, dairy,Sugar beet, etc, etc.We need a simple ,basic assurance scheme be that run by RT or another body .I think RT was a machine running high on bureaucracy and ego without any method of control.Thankfully @Clive and the TFF stepped in and the debate started,we've a long way to go but, hopefully, things are beginning to happen.

I do hope the NFU get the message that they should be representing their grass roots members and not fighting against them. This is typified by their partnership with RT which is something of an anomaly and needs addressing.
NFU and RT need to show, imo,a little less arrogance and a bit more humility and engagement with their members. Then relationships can be rebuilt.
Back to the lambing shed,goodnight.

I'd be interested to hear from anf NFU guys about this poll...

I'd really like the NFU to get involved. Anyone know if NFU have spoken to AIC? Or are NFU happy with AIC position?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help.

All that happens is a complaint goes into the local branch. I’m fairly sure they will pass it on, but whenever it goes after that bins it.

Why would they take it seriously? Think about it, because ultimately it puts their gravy train job at risk.

The NFU has no clout at all as I’ve been told directly by an MP. Members are throwing money down the toilet by subscribing.
For the size of our industry the NFU has massive “clout” compared the other similar industries? Just look who they have had direct talks/meetings with in the last few months. If we all bin the NFU can you imagine how much worse all the reforms that will be pushed through whilst a small group of disgruntled farmers take years and bicker and argue about the best way of setting up a new union? Oh actually let’s just block the roads and burn tyres until we get what we want as it works in other countries... 🤦🏻‍♂️

I sort of agree with you, but also think they're failing miserably with some issues. Where are they to help with the AIC debacle? Nowhere to be seen at the moment. We know they know about it, so the inaction is very poor imho.

@Grass And Grain ,I forget to mention your contribution to this debate, thank you for all the time and work you are giving up in pursuit of change in the assurance industry. It takes careful thought to prepare and write emails and be in correspondence with the various bodies. Thanks again.
Thanks. Think we're doing some good, but it's a slow process. We're trying to be reasonable and do things by discussion, that's a civilized way to go about things. But I recon we'll get more frustrated and heavier handed as time goes along.
