Cantilever cubicles problem

We have a passage of cantilever cubicles backing onto a silage pit. Because of the way it's done there's too much lunge room and every year we get 1 or 2 of our sucklers jammed between the rails and the wall and its a fair job dismantling a length to let then out. I'm sure I read somewhere on here about an extra rail or strap to stop this but can't find it now.

Does anyone know the optimum height for an extra line (probably thick rope to start with since I've already got it) to stop them getting as far forward but not hinder then getting up?

Took this photo to use but typically I've managed to miss out the 14" RSJs that support the silage pit. I'm now wondering about moving the line of sight rails from the silage pit temporarily (silage is below wall level so shouldn't be needed until next summer) and bolting them to the uprights about mid height? They'd be between 6 and 10 inches further in than existing top and bottom rails depending on what way round I fit them.

Will certainly stop cows (and even calves) getting in and I don't think they'd restrict lunging too much. Any thoughts?

Mine are Newton Rigg so slightly different. I had too much space in front, cows got up in front of the top rail and would get trapped so I put strap along the top of the cubicle. So it’s like another top rail further forward.

I don't have anything other than the silage pit uprights any further forward. Might try and fix something on them 👍
