Just breaking the concrete up around an old borehole. What is the best way of capping it please?

First thing to check, is it a true borehole. Many of the old bore hole were done through an existing well which was then capped and a tube fitted.
with the state of that cap , if there is a well below, you have something seriously dangerous. We had a similar capped well which was 6 foot diameter and 80 foot deep! All supported by two very rusty old steel beams, probably 100 years old

Should have also said, that if it is a true bore, you can probably pull that tube out with a decent teleporter, many wells are only tubed for the first 20 feet or so.
as a 4 inch well it is not really worth keeping as they can be a right pain if you try and fit anything biggerthan a 2 inch pump

I spent yesterday morning with a JCB hydraulic breaker breaking the concrete up around the top of the borehole! Glad I’m still here, good advice for anybody else thinking of doing this.
