For 5 years now, this bloke has been the gov at the Bank of England.

Has he done anything constructive at all in that time ?

Good heavens man, this convention of having the central bank independent of political control is really turning out to be a stone in the shoe of a collection of leading luminaries the world over. Trump and the real hard core Brexiteer being to the vanguard of these luminaries. Oh, and another dear fellow has actually gone further and taken political control of his country’s central bank. Another Trumpian / Brexiteerian sort of chap. Mr. Erdogan in Turkey.

At a time when the economy has seen some of the most earth shaking decisions , I would suggest he has seen through a very steady course giving all borrowers here a very easy time and seen the UK ecobomy grow when by rights it should have dropped through the floor.
I wish to god I had, had , a bank of England chief like him , during the 35 years I farmed with interest rates up to 15%

The man needs to stop politicising his role and shut the hell up. If he is unwilling to steer the bank through a no-deal BREXIT he needs to get out- now.

The man is responding to the situation as he sees fit. He was employed to be the man to keep Britains finances in order, it would be very remiss of him not to offer his views on what is best for the country. However he will have to steer the interest rates over the next few months to achieve the best response from the economy whatever the politicians decide.
If he resigns I rather think the pound may take a little further tumble

His post is strictly apolitical. I think there is no need to remind anyone of this nor the reasons why it must be the case. He is there to run the BoE, not involve himself with politics.

His hands are tied on interest rates and we all know it.

He has a good record but as he is meant to be apolitical not sure he should be making statements. BUT from what i heard he said if we leave on wto terms things might be turbulant for a WHILE. I take that as his view is we will leave on wto rules but that the boe has it under control .

His post is not apolitical at all. Seeing as the economy and politics are inextricably entwined it's his duty to comment, as every previous Governor has done. What he cannot do is support or criticise a particular political party except where it comes within his brief. One of the best acts that Brown ever did was to create the MPC and make it independent, to the frustration of many politicians since.

Not at all. Here though is Michael D in full flight, taking Michael Graham (Tea Party and Trump mouth piece), to the cleaners in one to one debate! Game set and match to M Dee!

You need to explain to me how you deduce I claim M Dee is good for agriculture?:scratchhead:
For the record I didn’t vote for him in the last election and neither will I in the next one!
Never voted for any Labour candidate in a general election for that matter. BUT Rurai Quinn was a great minister for finance. Dick Spring was a great foreign affairs minister.
Wouldn’t pee on a Shinner if they were on fire:whistle:.

I’m neither a FF’r nor a FG’r .......either one can get my vote depending on the manifesto at the time.

If I was a NI citizen I would consider SDLP, Alliance or UUP as potential candidates for my vote. DUP I would class in the same bracket as SF, unworthy of my pee if they were on fireo_O

Now if I was over there on the mainland, Lawdy, Lawdy me ....... crikey, ......... but can it be possible? Ain’t anybody responsible enough to leave minding the family cat, never mind running the country!!!! :scratchhead:

Ashy youre grasp of what constitutes great is a bit dodgy Dickie Springs biggest claim to fame was bending a weak misguided clown like garret fitzgerald over and doubling the national debt in the eighties while pursuing his lefty union friendly policies as the country went down the toilet. Ruairi or ho chi quinn was incapable of adding 2 and2 the economy had been already been turned around by a shrewd business men like Albert Reynolds and Ray McSharry before ho chi got near the finance portfolio.
As regards Ni Arlene Foster has the measure of sinn shite would vote for no bother and your uk choice Tory all the way. You obviously have never lived in england as if you had you might understand the english people better.

You don’t seem to have a very clear grasp of written English!!! You make claims and jump to conclusions based a short simple paragraph which you read, which have no basis whatsoever.
e.g. .... Claim that my UK choice would be Tony “all the way”.........:rolleyes:. Do pray tell me how you came to that rather insightful conclusion?
That on top of somehow deducing that I wrote that M Dee would be good for agriculture???:banghead::banghead:
