Carbon credits.

Has anyone traded any? I've just had a link to the 'ruumi' carbon program. They assess your carbon levels through soil testing, devise a plan to improve it then pay you over 5 years for trading you credits. They take a 20% cut for themselves.

Be careful. I've not looked at the ruumi one specifically but the ones I have looked at are a trap they lure you in with something that sounds good and then you're stuck with the consequences for a long time. Them owning 20% doesn't sound much but they would effectively own 20% of your soil and you can't do anything with it for as long as the small print says you can't.
I would be very careful If I were you you might end up looking after something for them for a very long time. Soil carbon levels aren't that stable wirh the testing available now it can go up and down quite a lot because the tests can't distinguish between stable carbon tied up for a long time and carbon from the sugars in root exudates the grass or whatever is pumping out when it's growing. A test when it's growing like hell in spring would ckme back much higher than one done on a cloudy day in October or in a drought mid summer. And you'd be liable to make up the difference if something went wrong with the testing because its under your management if it went down enough. Carbon price could go up a lot between now and the contract coming to an end...
Like I said indont know about ruumi but the ones I have read about are a trap. They aren't trying to help you out they're out to line their own pockets off the back of your hard earned carbon while you take all the risk.
Oh and the whole concept is a complete scam. Companies shouldn't be allowed to pay to pollute. But if thus pay to pollute scam continues you might need the credits for yourself so definitely don't give them away just yet....
