Care Farm

Hi all, apologies if this is in the wrong section 🙄🙈!
I am a retired Occupational Therapist currently in the process of setting up a Care Farm on the East side of Northumberland. I’m wondering if there are any forward think farmers out there who might be interested in renting out some land & possibly an outbuilding for the project. There’s an awful lot more I could say here but I shall save you for the moment! Man6 thanks for taking the time to read this, much appreciated 😊. Tracey

Hi, yes, that’s a very good point!
.

An overview can be found in the attached document. Obviously there would need to be fairly in-depth discussion around the logistics of such a venture, and it has the opportunity to work with or without your input. If it could be beneficial to yourself around the farm, then it’s certainly worth exploring the options available. My aim was to use animals I acquired myself, although, again, this could be further discussed and explored. We take out our own insurance for everything, so basically it would initially be literally using the land available. I would require some outbuildings but this is something I could arrange myself, space and regulations depending.
As a farmer, it gives you an opportunity to have some extra money coming in, there are other people around to socialise/speak with (if that’s your thing!), I’m keen to provide skill sharing for users in order to continue maintaining precious farming skills and it has the potential to open up numerous other opportunities to both yourself and us.
I appreciate it is a big thing to consider but the benefits are tremendous to everybody involved. I would love to hear from anybody that might be interested in exploring further 😊

What about doing share farming with older farmers? Lots of farmers getting older may need help with the physical side of farming or even help with paperwork side of things.
Lower cost for you ,provides help for farm & as you said provides social contact for farmer. You also get the farmers experience .
