Career options for the ageing shepherd

Do you need an income?

Are you looking for a job, a career, a hobby etc?
To be clear I'm still relatively young and hopefully have a good 20-25 year's in my current shepherding role. Just pondering the what ifs and maybe.
Was curious what older folk do with manual jobs that can no longer do it but the mind still wants to

Oh, well that's alright then (y)

By the time you're hobbling about like us modern day geriatrics Boris, Moonbat, Packham and the rest of them feckers will have realised just how important grazing with sheep is that they'll be paying you billions to keep doing it so you'll be employing a bunch of under shepherds and you'll be riding about in your truck with your arm out of the window issuing instructions ;)

Plan has always been to drive a tractor if the body gives in before the mind
failing that stacking shelves at tesco
Neither of which give me butterflys in the belly but would keep food on the table.
I'm still young but watching the older generation with bad hips, knees, hands manual labour can catch up on you
Delivery driver for supermarkets. Plenty of spare time for your flock of pedigrees

Think about what you want your life to look like. Then start shaping it in that direction.

Older people who can't do manual work hire labour or restructure their business to remove the manual elements. Hence why ewes with lambs at foot are so expensive, and breeding sheep prices haven't kept pace with fat prices. Less and less people want the work, and even less are actually capable of it.
