Carpet farming this Christmas - taking me back nearly 50 years

Enjoy it while it lasts, it's a great time.

Too many times lately I seem too busy to roll about on the carpet with them. He'll be needing a whole fleet of Bruder stuff next. Then you can get some real work done.

Before you know it, they want the real thing. Hence our little flock of sheep now. It's also great, but it's easier farming sheep on wet days when you're in the lounge instead of up to your ankles in mud!

My middle 1 announced on her 13 birthday this week she wanted to rear some calves. Already got their own sheep.

Has anyone got any of the Siku remote controlled gear? Videos on YouTube show all sorts in a German model show, buck raking, quad track drilling etc, but for sale here all I can find is the fendt, JD, plough rake and trailer, and really smart the Scania artic tipper. All the stuff on YouTube seems to be production stuff. Any idea as to how good it is and what age below 31 can play with it?

The Germans are pretty advanced when it comes to converting models, not least their radio controlled stuff. I used to go to the no1 model show in Europe, at Zwolle in Holland. Some of the stuff on show there, including radio controlled stuff, is immense. Completely one off, cad designed and cnc machined stuff, alloy welding, brass etched, laser cut.... It's out of this world what some if these chaps do.

Some things don't change, AEC Mercury with a Jennings horse box with side loading ramp was as close as I could get at the time and the mobile workshop trailer is out again as there's a problem with the knotters on the conventional baler and we've not finished yet !!!

New quad bike to add to the collection. Whilst the die cast and plastic machinery models seem to be broadly in keeping and accurate, the livestock seem to have gone in any form of accuracy compared with those of the 70's and my Father's lead models, troughs, fences etc

Shame really
