Carrier xl disc layout,

Looked at two vaderstad carrier xl with big discs, one with the discs arranged in a “v form” the other in a “x pattern” while the x didn’t crab at deeper depths the finish was somewhat unlevel, where as the V crabbed a little it was a far better finish, this could be slightly fuzzy comparison as the v had the double steel packer where as the x was single steel. So what’s peoples thoughts on these machines? And there disc layout? Any opinions on the packer options?

I have been working with a xl on double packer this year after upgrade from the lighter style carrier. Not really clued up on disc layouts but I definitely like the XL better for chopping through tough ploughing. I think the single steel packer is better at keeping itself clean. Ive bunged the double packer up a couple of times this year. Its like how a press bungs up. I also think the single steel packer cracks the clods better where as the staggered double packer seems to let them through more. Double packer seems to be more popular on the new gear but I'm not a fan.
