Get what you pay forthey cost more usually
Sorry,wrong thread..they cost more usually
5150 be twice the tractor of the Fergie,imo..I'd agree the driving position is better on the MF but like you I was born with red/cream blood so it's a tough call. Just enough electronics on the MF without going mad. IMO I don't think the Maxxum comes close, too cramped and dark in the cab for my liking although the cummins is a beut.
Yes all 40k AFAIKare the 3120 40k? i really dont know a lot about mf! case and jd are more my kinda thing
I half agree with you. Know of 3 round here, all had problems with clutch packs and hydraulics. I know of a 31 with 14k hrs on it, engine and Dyna never been touched5150 be twice the tractor of the Fergie,imo..
After owning 5 X 51 series maxxum I've only had one clutch pack fail on a 5150 plus, which was more to do with driver error.Yes all 40k AFAIK

MF is very modular in design, everything can be worked on easily. Hydraulic pump comes out the side, easy access to handbrake if you need it. All the different PTO options just slot in as do creeper gears
i would LOVE one of them!would like some more info on that please!I know were there is a 1455XL for sale a very tidy old tractor , The IH would be the one I would buy
Did the 956/ 1056 have different engines ,was chatting with mike stokes about this other day 956 stood turbo better he had 6/7 out to Richard longs But I would prefer 3120 Or dig deep and buy a 6280/90IMO the 3120 is the best MF ever made, never heard a bad word about them. Bulletproof Dyna box, sweet engine, lift controls all in one place. Finding one is another thing entirely. Doors and wings rot, but can be replaced or mended if you're good with welder not like the plastic jobs. Lift arm cross shaft wears but easy to swap.
Last of the 56's are proper tractors, 40k, air con. Sadly a lot have been turbo'd. I can't comment on the reliability of this but I do know that the 1255's had stronger pistons and con rods in the same block to cope with it. Again trying to find a good un is getting harder, 23 years old now. Cabs prone to rot, wings and bottom front of cab in particular. Probably have to pay more for the 56.
Very early 955 had a 5litre 6, but not for long. All 9 and 1056 had D358 just tweaked pump. If you could get a 31 with power shuttle that would be a great tractorDid the 956/ 1056 have different engines ,was chatting with mike stokes about this other day 956 stood turbo better he had 6/7 out to Richard longs But I would prefer 3120 Or dig deep and buy a 6280/90
Find a 955XL & you have a rare tractor.I think everyone has good and bad experiences of all tractors, you only hear about the bad ones. After a brief dalliance with a JD I wouldn't be in a rush for another.
