Case 5150 won't start

Hi all, I'm after a bit of assistance if anyone can help. I've got a Case 5150 that won't start.

The dash lights up like normal when the key is turned to the running position, and they go off when turned to the start position like it should, but isn't starting the tractor. I've shorted the terminals on the starter coil, and tractor starts. I've followed back to another relay which pulls the starter in, and ignition is not bringing that in. I've disconnected the coil wires and connected up to tester, but not reading anything.

Where should I go from there? I know the shuttle has to be in neutral (which it appears to be). Just after a bit of advice before getting the dash open.

Thanks

It's a 5150 plus

We've never had to press the pedal before, but I'll check to see if something has started working that hasn't before. I'll check for any seat switch and PTO as well.

Thanks for the replies.

if you pull the rubber mat up in the back right hand corner of the cab behind the seat there will be some wires running to the seat, 2 of them are for the compressor for the air seat and 2 are for the operator presence switch, pull the plugs apart to find out which is which, then cut and twist the 2 together for the switch

On the 5130 there is a starter relay on the engine side of the bulkhead, middle and above the main sockets.
I've traced the wiring from the starter to this relay. I put a supply on it straight from the battery, and it tried to start. It isn't pulling in when the key is turned though.

I'll have a look for this. Does the switch stop you starting it without being on the seat, or is it supposed to stop the engine if you get off?

Thanks for your help

Start relay term 86 live from ignition switch. Term 85 earth out through fnr switch. Term 30 permanent live from power stud.Term 87 switched live down to small term on starter motor

you have to be sat on seat to start up, wires break under seat so when you sit on it the tractor thinks your not sat on seat so wont start

Relay on the bulkhead most likely try tapping it while turning the key.
The positive wire going to the insulated bushing corroded on the one here it made enough contact for the dash lights to work but not start.

From memory, they won't start with the gear lever in the top range gear either. Not suggesting its in gear, but worth checking the switch.

I've sorted the tractor out.

It was the shuttle switch. I shorted from terminal 85 on the start relay to ground, and it started with the key. I tested through the switch, and found it wasn't closing when in neutral.

Thanks everyone for your help
