Hi everyone me again. Found a 1989 case 885 with a tanco loader that’s a good price but it’s 2wd, anyone got any experience with them and knows how much they can lift? I’ve got some bulk bags of type 1 that need moving.

It depends upon the loader how much it'll lift, it depends upon how much rear ballast you have whether you can then carry that load, especially with 2wd

Driver experience also makes a big difference

Sorry for the vague response, but it's difficult to reply to such a vague question

1/2 ton: no problem
3/4 ton: probably ok but needs some rear weight. Not good on soft ground
1 ton: depends which Tanco loader model and puts a lot of strain on the front axle
Over 1 ton: asking a lot, even on concrete.

Useful?

After we’ve done what we are doing not that often hopefully. We need to redo the the drive and outside our stables it wasn’t high on my grandfathers to do list but there’s more pot holes than drive now, after it’s done it should only be the odd bag to keep on top of it.

If the pump is in good nick it should lift the bags onto a low trailer if u have 600kg on the back.
Set the wheels out wide and go carefully

Most 2wd loader tractor used to have the narrow front wheels with pressed steel centres replaced by wider trailer type tyres with welded centres for strength and to stop sinking in on soft ground.

I see the loader has a bucket, why are you having material in bags? Could you not have a small load tipped from a quarry and save a few quid plus you'll be able to take as much or as little in the bucket as you want.
Tractor should manage big bags though IMO just keep the bag as close to tractor as possible and have a good rear weight
